The situation is reversed today. Congo's transport system is in shambles. The UN has a most robust transport system in this vast country. Many of us in the humanitarian community depend on the UN.

1960 Congo Denies Transport to UN
A threat to hamstring the entire United Nations peace mission in the Congo was made today [Dec. 8] by Congolese authorities who withdrew permission for the UN to use the road, rail and river services of the nation’s transport system. News of the move was given today by Indian Brig. Gen. Indarjit Rikhye, chief UN military adviser here, who announced simultaneously that UN troops were being withdrawn from scattered guard posts and being concentrated for the protection of UN staff.
